Mindful Counselling for Health Practitioners

Mindful Counselling is an emerging tool with wide applications for health practitioners across disciplines. Counselling by itself is something we all do – doctors, nurses, allied health clinicians, anyone working with people to help them get well and stay well.  Counselling mindfully takes this basic skill set to a whole new level and can profoundly influence the healing we do with our patients.

In this 5-day intensive, we weave together a toolbox of skills that will help you expand your counselling and coaching techniques mindfully. By this, we mean sharpening your attunement to your patients by honing your own mindfulness skills. In this way, you dramatically increase the potential for fostering change in yourself and others using powerful techniques with a strong evidence-base in neuroscience.

What does the course cover?

  • The science behind brain-based counselling: Neuroscience in practice
  • Mindfulness – ancient art in the modern world
  • The importance of relationship for effective counselling and coaching
  • Mindful counselling for common issues – anxiety, mood disorders, and trauma

Each day of the intensive we work together for a 3-hour block that includes a blend of theory based on the most up-to-date research, as well as opportunities to put the learning into practice using case studies and role plays. Our aim is to build your skills along with confidence to put your learning to work as soon as you get home.

The retreat allows plenty of time off for exploring Norfolk Island or simply chilling out – enjoy a glorious mix of learning and fun. And there’s time for individual sessions with Dr Kate, your guide for the week, so you can discuss cases in confidence.
